Grupo RBS is the second largest company in Brazil, this is in terms of the number of employees. The media conglomerate is a family-owned business that was founded in the year 1957 by Mauricio Sirotsky. Since then, the company has grown to be one of the leading media businesses in the country, owning a large number of media stations and newspapers.
Eduardo Sirotsky Melzer, who goes by the nickname Duda, is the current CEO and chairman of the board of directors at the Grupo RBS. This is after being inaugurated as the CEO of the company in the year 2012, in the presence of family and the over 6, 000 employees of the company, in an event held in Porto Alegre. Duda succeeded Nelson Sirotsky, his uncle. Nelson had served the company for over 4 decades, two of which were in the CEO position.
Duda Melzer started working for the media conglomerate in the year 2004. This was after receiving an offer to head the company’s domestic market division. According to statements made by Duda, he had always had a dream of working for the company. Therefore, the call to offer him a post at the company was a dream come true for him. However, this role didn’t quite place him at a position where he could fully achieve all that he had envisioned for the company. However, he was determined to work his way up like the rest.
Duda served the company for about 8 years before finally getting to the top of the ladder. He shows great promise for the company. In his leadership, Duda is guided by two major values. The value for people and the value for business. He attributes this two to the great success that the company has achieved since he took over its leadership.
